The 1. S-Boat-Squadron was put in order by "Organization Order No. 18 - Navy" as S-Boat-Training-Squadron with homeport Kiel-Friedrichsort with an effective date 01.04.1956.
The six boats of the "Silbermöwe"-class (Type S 149) from the British Baltic Fishery Protection Service (BBFPS) - also known as "Unit Klose" and from the Bundesgrenzschutz-See (BGS) were assigned to the squadron. The boats got the names "Silbermöwe" (Silver Gull), "Sturmmöwe" (Storm Gull), "Wildschwan" (Wild Swan), "Eismöwe" (S 1), "Raubmöwe" (S 2), and "Seeschwalbe" (S 3). In contrary to the other boats equipped with Mercedes-Benz MB-518-A engines "Seeschwalbe" was equipped with Maybach-Diesels and Escher-Wyss-ajustable propellers. It was taken out of the squadron and subordinated to the Marine-Unterwasserwaffenschule 01.10.1960 as a training- and trial-boat. The boats "Storm Gull" (S 1), "Silver Gull" (S 2), and "Wild Swan" (S 3) had originally been ordered for BGS. Because of the expected good characteristics the British Ocupying Forces had forbidden to continue the construction for BGS and had the boats being built for the BBFPS. S 1 was commissioned on 15.11.1955, S 2 on 02.02.1955, S 3 was only commissioned after all three boats had been handed over to the Bundesmarine on 29.05.1956. The newspaper Bremer Nachrichten on March 19th 1953 fwrote the following: Lürssen-Werft at Bremen –Vegesack has for the moment stopped the construction of the three S-boats ordered by Bundesinnenministerium for the Seegrenzschutz after the Allied Security Office has doubted that such S-boats are necessary for policing actions. Doibted does not mean finally disapproved is thought at Bremen and after a today present report from Bonn the Innenministerium stil hopes for a fortunable decission since as is claimed at hte river Weser that these S-boats sailing at about 38 kts with their 2-cm-armament do scarcely endanger the Allied security but would bring the necessary policing reinforcement for the Seegrenzschutz. From influential circles it is declared that the refusal by the Allied Security Office almost is appers unworldly considering with which emphasis the West is pressing for the rearmament of Germany. A new application of the Innenministerium is awaiting the decission of the Overcommission. Until then the halfway ready boats are laying under gray canopies ont the shipyard in the way because Lürssen is fully occupied with orders from the inland and from abroad and also bound to rigid deadlines. For den BGS three boats of same type were built with the designators "S 1" through "S 3". The boats S 1 (new), S 2 (new), and S 3 (new) were ordered for the BGS. S 1 and S 2 were commissioned on 15.09.1955 resp. 08.02.56 and handed over to the Bundesmarine on 01.07.1956. S 1 got the name "Eismöwe", S 2 got the name "Raubmöwe". S 3 was commissioned on 16.04.1957 for the Bundesmarine under the name "Seeschwalbe".

"Ferocity". These boats were to be tested in the German Navy for their suiteability to the area of operations. The "Nasty"-boats were put out of commission in 1964, the British built boats in 1965. On the 15.03.1967 flags and pennants were hauled down on "Silbermöwe", "Sturmmöwe, "Wildschwan", "Eismöwe" und "Raubmöwe". The squadron was closed down.

S-"Strahl" - "Brave"-Class, ( Class 153)
S-"Pfeil" - "Ferocity"-Class, ( Class 153) Also these boats were very fast as gliders but not seaworthy enough for Northsea and BAlltic and were decommissioned after threeandahalf years ´under testing.
