The 1. S-Boat-Squadron was put in order by Organization Order No. 18 - Navy as S-Boat-Training-Squadron with homeport Kiel-Friedrichsort with an effective date 01.04.1956. The six boats of the "Silbermöwe"-class (Type S 149) from the British Baltic Fishery Protection Service (BBFPS) - also known as "Unit Klose" and from the Bundesgrenzschutz-See (BGS) were assigned to the squadron. The boats got the names "Silbermöwe" (Silver Gull), "Sturmmöwe" (Storm Gull), "Wildschwan" (Wild Swan), "Raubmöwe", "Eismöwe", and "Seeschwalbe".
