Transfer of "S71 Gepard" to Marinemuseum June 14th 2016

After more than a year of S71 "Gepard" laid up at Warnemünde, exciting transfer to Wilhelmshaven and a rather long time at Marinearsenal Wilhelmshaven now came the day on June 14th 2016 for Förderverein Museums-Schnellboot and the Marinemuseum.

Under qualified leadership of the pilot of Jadedienst, Mister Müller, and involvement of a tug and two assisting boats as well as of crewmembers of the museums-sailing boat "Nordwind" and members of Förderverein Museums-Schnellboot S71 "Gepard", the newest big exponate was transfered to her last mooring-poition at the Marinemuseum starting at 08:30 am. Punctual with leaving the pier in MArs Wilhelmshaven it started to rain so that the whole event was carried out in rain-weather.

The passage between the bow of "Mölders" and the former pier with the parking lot of Thales company seemingly was very narrow but tug and assisting boats managed a safe passage of S71 "Gepard" into the harbour space at the museum.

The mooring at the space at the quai turned out to be rather difficult and timeconsuming but with the combined seaman's experiences of all persons involved in the manoeuvre from Jadedienst, from the Marinemuseum, from Förderverein Museums-Schnellboot, and from "Nordwind" it succeeded without problems.

After mooring of the boat in the harbour of the museum the activities to prepare the boat for the ceremonial opening of the exponate for visitors on June 18th, the "second commissioning", started.

For Förderverein Museums-Schnellboot e.V. is valid: "Target 1 of the association has been met, S71 "Gepard" is at Deutsches Marinemuseum". While still working on making her fit for the museum also for the association the main task for the association is Target 2: "Maintenance of the Museum-Boat".
