The 2. S-Boat-Squadron was put in order by "Organization Order No. 80 - Navy" with an effective date of June 1st 1958. Homeport of the squadron was Wilhelmshaven. 10 boats of the "Seeadler"-Class (S-Boat Class 141) were assigned to the squadron. Starting in 1976 it was retrofitted with 10 boats of the "Albatros"-Class (Class 143). The coat -of-arms of the 2. S-Boat-Squadron shows the "Iron Fist" following the boat-coat-of-arms of "S 76" whose commanding officer Oblt.z.S. Meyering was the first Commander of the squadron. It is said that it depicts the fist of a falconer enforced by an iron glove. The pictures blue - red- yellow are the colours of the County Friesland in northern Germany.

On December 1st 1981 they got their traditional names.OnSeptember 16th 1994 the squadron transfered to Warnemünde with 10 boats and Tender "Donau". From October 1st 1999 until the disbanding of the 2. S-Boat-Squadron on 28 July 2006 five boats of Class 143 A were employed by the 2. S-Boat-Squadron and boats "S76 Frettchen, "S77 Dachs", "S78 Ozelot", "S79 Wiesel", and "S80 Hyäne" were dispatched to the 2. S-Boat-Squadron. That was to render the boats of class 143 protection against missiles at short range by the boats of Class 143 A in mixed packs whereas the boats of class 143 provided higher gunnery potential and the wireguided torpedoes. Such a mixed pack could therefore bring to bear three 76mm-guns, eight MM 38-missiles, two SEAL-torpedoes, 21 RAM-missiles and a large number of mines. With the disbanding of the 2. S-Boat-Squadron the boats of Class 143 A were returned to the 7. S-Boat-Squadron.
