in the 6. SFltl The 6. SFltl was formed in March 1941. Flotilla-Commander was KKpt Albrecht Obermaier (Deutsches Kreuz in Gold 06.06.44) from 03.41 to 07.44; his successor was Kptlt. (KKpt) Jens Matzen (Deutsches Kreuz in Gold 27.01.45; Ritterkreuz 18.03.45) from 07.44 to 05.45. The Areas of Deployment of the Flotilla were:

Marking
of the Boats: According
to the statement of the last commanding officer of „S 223“, the former
Oblt.z.S. Enno Brandi, all boats towards the end of war besides of the
coat of arms of the flotilla were marked on both sides of the hull beneath
the bridge in big black letters with the initial of the last name of the
commanding officer. However, he does not remenber how it was handled when
the same letter appeared more than once as in Brandi, Breithaupt and
Bucher. In April 1941 the flotilla was in command of the following boats:
On 01.04.1941 the flotilla had available only "S 13" (Oblt.z.S. Meyering), on 10.04.41 boats "S 11" (Oblt.z.S. Seeger) and "S 12" (Oblt.z.S Nolte) becamew also available. "S 12" was decommissioned on 19.05.1941 a.D. for basic maintenance. On 09.05.1941 "S 30" came to 6. SFltl (Kdt Oblt.z.S. Meyering), "S 13 was commissioned. on 19.05.1941 "S 36" (OBStrm (ROA) Licht) and "S 56" (Oblt.z.S. Nolte) were added . On 01.10.1941 the flotilla was in command of the following boats:
*) On 18.10.Oblt.z.S. Witt took command of "S 36", on 11.11.1941 Oblt.z.S. Hörning took over "S 19", in December Oblt.z.S. Meyering took over "S 20" and on 20.12. Oblt.z.S. Witt took over boat "S 22", which had been without CO since 15.10.1941.
With handing over boats "S 18" and "S 20" to the 5. SFltl and receipt of brandnew boats the flotilla on01.02.1942 was in command of the folkowing boats:
In March 1942 boat "S 74" after commissioning at Lürssen joint the flotilla so that it went to Norway from April to July 1942 with the boats as follows:
At the transfer to Norway boats "S 19" and "S 24" sailed with the flotilla but returned ("S 19" under Oblt.z.S. Goetschke and "S 24" under Oblt.z.S. Nitsche) and were handed over to 5. SFllt. During its stay at Norway the flotilla received the following new boats which joined the flotilla at Svolvær:
In addition to the letters on the hull some of the boats showed own insignia on the forefront of the bridge, i.g. "S 76" (Oblt.z.S. Hörning) and receipt of new boats the flotilla on 20.03.1943 was organized as follows:
