Following a deployment for the 6. SFltl at Kirkenes "Hernösand" was employed as Tender for the 6. SFltl bis 01.08.1942. Thereafter the ship sailed back to Germany. From 25.01. bis Mitte April 1943 the ship lay in a shipyard. Therefore she could not follow the 8. SFltl to Norway. But she carried out three supply-trips to Norway. During the build-up of the new base-structure upon the loss of the Channel-bases it got Trontheim as new deployment-harbour. 1945 it was handed over to England which "inadvertently" passed it on to Norway. The shipowners H.M. Gehrkens protested against that and got the ship back from Norway. 1955 she was broken up.
