The boats were modernized several times. In spring 2003 four boats of the 21. MTB-Skvadron were employed in the NATO-Operations ACTIVE ENDEAVOR in the Street of  Gibraltar. Four boats of the 22. MTB Skvadron were employed in UNIFIL in 2006 to 2007 off the coast of Lebanon. The last extensive modernization was performed in 2004, the boats got a modern Command-and-Control-System DCN Senit 2000 CMS including the datatransfer-system Link 11.

In 2006 five boats were decommissioned. The other boats sailed in the 21. MTB-Skvadron ("Tjeld", "Stegg", "Ravn", and "Geir") and in the 22. MTB-Skvadron ("Skarv", "Jo", "Falk", "Gribb", and "Erle"). The last five boats of th class served in the fleet until 2008.
